Zombie Hedgehog

An innocent bit of shrubbery?

No! It's a zombie hedgehog! Don't make any sudden moves and maybe it will go about it's way.

It's spotted us! The horror! The. Horror.

I zombified the Hedgehog pattern from Ana Paula Rimoli's "Amigurumi World" to make a birthday present for a friend who loves zombies and hedgehogs.

I had a lot of fun making this. (Although, I am not going to lie, crocheting the prickle back took FOREVER. I feel like I have carpal tunnel in my wrist now.)

Dharma Fish softie

My costume for Dragon*Con this year was as a Dharma Initiative chef carrying a four foot long Dharma Fish biscuit.

Confused? Well, unless you watch LOST, this isn't surprising.

How do I explain this quickly? Let's just say there was a group called the Dharma Initiative. They moved to an island to run experiments. Some of these experiments involved animals. Bears. Bears who liked treats such as fish biscuits.

So the Dharma Initiative made fish biscuits and printed their name on it to give to the bears.

Originally, I was going to go as a giant Dharma Fish biscuit. I decided against it. And went with the "easier" option of designing a four foot long Dharma Fish biscuit softie.

Meet Zed, the zombie toaster pastry cozy

After a decade with the same beat up digital camera, I finally broke down and purchased a new one. Man, cameras sure have changed since the late twentieth century!

I really want to take care of this one, but I didn't like the camera cases available. So I made my own.

I like toaster pastries. And I like zombies. So why not combine the two?

I present Zed, the zombie toaster pastry electronic device cozy. Isn't he cute?

I was inspired by this pattern:

http://bittersweetblog.wordpress.com/2007/05/07/putting-the-art-back-in-pop-tarts/

Originally, I was just going to make a cozy based entirely on the above mentioned pattern.
But even before I finished casting off, I was already veering away from the original pattern.

My husband as a hamster series

I have an odd obsession. I enjoy sketching images of my husband as a hamster. Above is a sketch I call "Jonathan as a bun hamster.".

Recently, I have gotten into embroidery. Once I figured out that embroidery is basically drawing with thread and carefully placed stitches, I decided to turn the above drawing into an embroidery piece.

I present my first ever classic embroidery piece, "Jonathan as a Bun Hamster" or "I needed to practice the backstitch and didn't feel like using any example pieces provided."

This is the first in a series of seven pieces I plan to do. All involving my husband as a hamster.

Yeah, I'm all sorts of special.

Kawaii Beaver doll sketch v. 1.0

Inspired by the Nekomimi doll , I have set out to create a Kawaii Beaver doll as a wedding present for a friend who is getting married. Fortunately, they aren't getting married for a year. This gives me time to play around with the sketches, make prototypes and really nail this pattern before creating the final product.

Above is a quick minute sketch I made to get the idea down on paper before I forgot. For whatever reason, my husband is impressed by how quickly I can sketch. Off topic, maybe someday I should video tape a session when I do my 30 second sketches.

The groom is of Scottish descent and an engineering student. I thought it fitting for his doll to wear a kilt and be dressed as a beaver. After all, beavers are nature's engineers.

Graffiti Baby Hat

My husband's cousin is pregnant. I wanted to give her something that was personal, useful, and quick to knit up. So I made a baby hat pattern and embroidered her husband's graffiti signature onto it.

This is her husband's graffiti signature.

And this is the baby hat I designed. (I didn't know the sex of the baby when I started this project. So I went for a club scene gender neutral, black and white.)

Here is Anna's reaction. I think she likes it.

Once the story behind this bizarre little hat was explained, everyone else was thrilled too.

I had a lot of fun with this project. So much fun, that I am working on a series of Embroidered graffiti baby items. It's a great task, and is forcing me to finally learn how to embroider.

I have a webcomic! Sort of.

This is my diary comic. My training web comic, if you will. It updates Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
